Embracing Fall: Apple Cider Doughnuts & The Beauty of the Season

Ah, fall! The crisp air, cozy sweaters, and the stunning hues of orange, red, and yellow that transform the world around us. There’s just something so special about the change of the season—it brings a sense of renewal and comfort that I absolutely adore.

Autumn reminds me to slow down and savor the little things, like the warmth of a mug of apple cider, the scent of cinnamon wafting through the house, or wrapping myself in a soft blanket as the leaves fall gently outside. One of my favorite autumn treats has to be apple cider doughnuts! There’s something so nostalgic and cozy about them that makes me feel wrapped in the magic of the season.

And guess what? You can make them right at home, super easily! I discovered a delicious hack using Pillsbury biscuit dough that cuts down on time but doesn’t compromise on flavor. They’re so simple to whip up, and they fill your home with the most comforting aromas.

 Easy Apple Cider Doughnuts Recipe

Here’s a recipe that’ll have you savoring fall’s flavors in no time. These apple cider doughnuts are crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and packed with that irresistible apple spice goodness!

Ingredients:

- 1 can of Pillsbury Grands biscuit dough

- 1 cup apple cider

- 1 tablespoon cinnamon

- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg

- 1/2 cup granulated sugar

- Vegetable oil (for frying)

Instructions:

1. Prepare the Apple Cider Reduction:

In a small saucepan, bring the apple cider to a boil. Reduce the heat and let it simmer until it reduces by half. This usually takes about 10 minutes. Once reduced, set it aside to cool.

2. Prepare the Doughnuts:

Open the can of biscuit dough and separate the biscuits. Use a small cookie cutter (or bottle cap) to cut holes in the center of each biscuit to create doughnut shapes. Save the doughnut holes—you’ll want to fry those too!

3. Heat the Oil:

Pour vegetable oil into a large skillet, enough to cover the bottom with about 2 inches of oil. Heat the oil to 350°F (you can test with a thermometer or by dropping a small piece of dough into the oil—it should sizzle and float to the top).

4. Fry the Doughnuts:

Carefully place the doughnuts (and doughnut holes) into the hot oil, frying in batches. Fry for 1-2 minutes on each side until golden brown. Use a slotted spoon to remove them and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain.

5.  Coat the Doughnuts:

While the doughnuts are still warm, brush them with the reduced apple cider, then roll them in the cinnamon-sugar mixture (combine the cinnamon, nutmeg, and sugar in a shallow bowl).

6.  Enjoy!

Serve your apple cider doughnuts warm, with a cup of coffee, tea, or—of course—more apple cider!

These doughnuts are perfect for a cozy fall breakfast or as an afternoon treat. They’re light, fluffy, and bursting with all the autumn flavors that make this season so irresistible.
